O presente estudo visa compreender como ocorreu a tradução cultural, para o Brasil, de uma reportagem jornalística sobre o remo nos Estados Unidos publicada na França, no início do século XX. Esta reportagem jornalística relatava como o remo era vivenciado pelos estudantes e sobre a infraestrutura oferecida pela Universidade de Harvard para a prática, relacionados a concepções de aprimoramento das técnicas e progressos no desempenho visando às competições. Nesta direção, percebe-se que o sistema esportivo competitivo do remo no Rio Grande do Sul já possuía elementos que permitiram a tradução cultural deste texto jornalístico e contribuíram para a maior aceitação do conteúdo publicado. ...

The present study aims to understand how the cultural translation, for Brazil, of a journalistic report on rowing in the United States published on France, at the beginning of 20th century, occurred. This journalistic report reported how the rowing was experienced by students and about the infrastructure offered by Harvard University for the practice, related to conceptions of improving techniques and progress in performance aiming at competitions. This journalistic report reported how the rowing was experienced by students and about the infrastructure offered by Harvard University for the practice, related to conceptions of improving techniques and progress in performance aiming at competitions. In this sense, it is clear that the competitive sports systems of rowing in Rio Grande do Sul already had elements that allowed the cultural translation of this journalistic text and contributed to the greater acceptance of the published content. ...
