Estudo exploratório sobre o couro bubalino

Abstract

Os búfalos domésticos são grandes mamíferos da família dos bovídeos, subfamília Bovinae, gênero bubalus dando origem à espécie Bubalus bubalis. Neste trabalho objetivou-se estudar e entender a cadeia do couro bubalino no estado do Rio Grande do Sul e no Brasil. Primeiro, buscou-se compreender o contexto dos bubalinos no estado, o uso e características das peles e a transformação do couro. Escoamento, dados da produção e características do setor também foram abordadas. De acordo com a pesquisa, observou-se que o couro bubalino possui uma espessura superior ao bovino. É de suma importância que os produtores conheçam as características do couro bubalino e manejem os animais com o intuito de preservar este material. O maior conhecimento dos produtores sobre as características da pele bubalina é de suma importância, se a superioridade do couro bubalino frente ao bovino fosse divulgada, poderia ser agregado maior valor ao produto. Por isso faz-se necessária a correta separação dos couros por espécie animal, podendo desta forma, abrir um mercado mais inovador, empreendedor e que valorize o couro bubalino processado.

The domestic buffalos are large mammals of the family of Bovideos, subfamily Bovinae, genus Bubalus giving rise to the species Bubalus bubalis. This work had as objective study and understand the chain of buffalo leather in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and in Brazil. First sought to understand the context of the buffaloes in the state, the use and characteristics of fur and the transformation in leather. Outflow, production data and industry characteristics were also addressed. According to the research, it was observed that the bubaline leather has a thickness superior to the bovine. It is very important that producers know the characteristics of bubaline leather and manage the animals in order to preserve this material. The increased knowledge of the producers about the characteristics of the bubaline skin is important because if the superiority of the buffalo leather against the bovine is diffused, greater value could be added to the product. Therefore, it is necessary the correct separation of leather by animal species, being able to open a market that is more innovative, entrepreneurial market and that values the processed bubaline leather.
