As exposições de arte e cultura bizantina, 1931-2009

Abstract

A comunicação visa sistematizar e analisar as diversas exposições de arte bizantina ocorridas no período indicado, analisando seus conteúdos, propósitos e suas correlações com o desenvolvimento e expansão dos estudos bizantinos pelo mundo ocidental, em particular na Europa, Estados Unidos e Austrália nas últimas décadas. A grande difusão editorial ocorrida, simultaneamente, nas línguas francesa, inglesa, sobretudo, espanhola, italiana e alemã de temas bizantinos e a criação e atuação das diversas associações e publicações científicas criadas a partir da segunda metade do século XX, conferem importância e relevância para nossa pequena pesquisa. Buscamos compreender a expansão desses estudos e do interesse crescente do público educado pela temática bizantina.

This communication aims to systematize and analyze the various exhibitions of Byzantine art staged during the period indicated, analyzing their content and purpose and their correlation with the development and expansion of Byzantine studies in Western world, especially Europe, USA and Australia in the last decades. The widespread editorial diffusion of Byzantine themes occurred simultaneously in French, English, and especially Spanish, Italian and German languages and the creation and performance of various associations and scientific publications from the second half of the twentieth century on, give importance and relevance to our small research. We want to understand the expansion of these studies and the increased interest of the educated public on Byzantine issues.
