| pt_BR |
dc.description.abstract | This research has as purpose analyze the lesbian romance between Yorkie and Kelly in San Junipero episode, which is part of Black Mirror series. The objectives of this study are to analyze the romance of the protagonists, especially in front of Bury Your Gays narrative trope, and to ascertain if this relationship appropriates romantic love ideals. The objective was understand the specificity of audiovisual language (BETTON, 1987; BULHÕES, 2009) to interpret the episode. The concepts of serial fiction (MACHADO, 2000) helped in the contextualization of San Junipero on audiovisual universe. To understand the sexuality of Yorkie and Kelly at real and fictional plane, were used texts about sexuality, that explain the way it is created, regulated and punished (LOURO, 2004, 2015; LAURETIS, 1987; MISKOLCI, 2009). Focused in compulsory heterosexuality effects on women (RICH, 2010), was understood that the lesbian possibility is erased and the heterosexual relationship serves as a resource to give protection to women. The methodology used in this research was film analysis (AUMONT; MICHEL, 2004; PENAFRIA, 2009; VANOYE; GOLIOT-LÉTÉ, 2002), which recommends a thorough description of audiovisual frames to interpret in depth. Over the analysis, was understood that the episode reaffirm classic ideals of romantic love (NEVES, 2007; TOLEDO, 2013), but subverts that because it is applied in a lesbian couple. The protagonists’s relationship happens with Yorkie looking for her beloved and Kelly afraid to live a new love. The episode detach the possibility of lesbianity happen in a different form for each of the protagonists. Besides that, the narrative trope of tragic endings to lesbian characters was subverted too, because Yorkie and Kelly have the “happily ever after”, but both die. San Junipero reflects the real dificulties of having a nonheterosexual sexuality and offer a fairytale for the characters, but it just happen on the virtual system of San Junipero. | en |
