O presente estudo tem como objetivo compreender como os adolescentes do ensino médio de Porto Alegre consomem informações jornalísticas e como esse consumo determina a percepção deles sobre o que é notícia, baseado na realidade de alunos de duas escolas de Porto Alegre. Para isso, realizamos uma pesquisa quantitativa com 114 estudantes de terceiro ano do ensino médio do Colégio Marista Rosário e da Escola Técnica Estadual Parobé, sendo 57 do primeiro e 57 do segundo. Os dados coletados foram aprofundados através da técnica de grupo focal, praticada com oito alunos de cada instituição de ensino. As informações mais tarde foram trabalhadas a partir do método de análise de conteúdo. O trabalho apresenta uma breve pesquisa de como o jornalismo interagiu com o espaço público desde o Absolutismo à Pós Verdade, além de ter identificado o papel social da imprensa durante esses períodos e como a prática da profissão se alterou após o surgimento da internet. Este estudo também apresenta diferentes pesquisas que analisam o consumo de notícias pelas gerações mais novas nos últimos anos e apontam como os jovens estão se engajando politicamente. Os objetivos específicos desta monografia são: 1) Definir o que é considerado notícia e jornalismo; 2) Refletir o papel social do jornalismo; 3) Apresentar os estudos sobre o consumo de notícias por adolescentes e jovens; 4) Perceber as mudanças no jornalismo em tempos de Web 2.0. Na análise, dividimos o corpus em 5 categorias: 1) O que são notícias para os adolescentes; 2) Insatisfação nos meios de comunicação tradicionais; 3) Hábitos de consumo de informação dos entrevistados; 4) Compreensão das notícias e 5) A falta de convite na participação do Espaço Público. Nossas principais conclusões foram que os adolescentes consomem mais notícias através das redes sociais e acabam entrando em sites de notícias para confirmar ou aprofundar determinadas informações. This study aims to understand how high school teenagers from Porto Alegre (Brazil) consider journalistic information and how this consumption affects perceptions about what news are, based on the reality of two city's high schools. For this, we conducted a quantitative research with 114 last year high school students from Colégio Marista Rosario and Escola Técnica Estadual Parobé, being 57 students each. The collected data were deepened through the focus group technique, practiced with eight students from each educational institution. The information was later analyzed from the content analysis method. This paper presents a brief research of how journalism interacts with public space since absolutism until post truth, identifies the social role of the press during these periods and how the practice of the profession changed after the emergence of the internet. This study also presents different researches that analyze news consumption by younger generations in recent years and points out how young people are engaging politically. The specific objectives of this monograph are: 1) Defining what are considered news and journalism; 2) Reflecting the social role of journalism; 3) Presenting studies on news consumption by adolescents and young people; 4) Understanding how journalism has changed since Web 2.0. The corpus of the analysis was divided into 5 categories: 1) What news are for teenagers; 2) Dissatisfaction in traditional media; 3) Information consumption habits of respondents; 4) Understanding the news and 5) Lack of invitation to participate in the Public Space. Our main findings were that teens consume more news through social media and they access news sites to confirm or deepen informations.
