Este trabalho apresenta o estudo da obtenção de óxido de alumínio (Al2O3 – alumina) pelo método sol-gel coloidal e também a avaliação e caracterização dos produtos obtidos. Este trabalho apresenta o estudo da obtenção de óxido de alumínio (Al2O3 – alumina) pelo método sol-gel coloidal e também a avaliação e caracterização dos produtos obtidos. O processo sol-gel coloidal utilizado neste estudo se baseia na formação de um sol (ou solução) a partir de precursores (no caso cloreto de alumínio hexahidratado) e após reações de pectização, a formação de um gel viscoso com características amorfas. Este gel depois de calcinado acima de 1000°C dá origem à alumina em diversos estados, como por exemplo, pós, fibras e corpos cerâmicos porosos. Os produtos obtidos seguindo esta metodologia foram caracterizados quanto à distribuição granulométrica, análises térmicas (TGA e DTA), difração de raios X e morfologia (usando microscopia ótica e de varredura). Através deste estudo comprovou-se a eficiência do método sol-gel coloidal na confecção de produtos cerâmicos, afirmando sua versatilidade na obtenção de vários tipos de produtos e também na redução da temperatura de sinterização de cerâmicas a base de alumina. ...
