Poluentes emergentes, ou micro-poluentes, vem sendo detectados em corpos hídricos devido ao seu incorreto descarte, tanto por falta de regulamentação quanto pelo recente conhecimento sobre os efeitos que causam no meio ambiente e na saúde humana a longo prazo. Fármacos são classificados como micro-poluentes, e dentre os mais frequentemente encontrados estão os anti-inflamatórios não esteroides, como o ácido acetilsalicílico, um dos medicamentos mais utilizados no mundo desde o início de sua comercialização, em 1899. Esses compostos são estáveis e não são eficientemente removidos de águas residuais pelos sistemas convencionais de tratamento, sendo necessária a aplicação de processos avançados, como a adsorção com carvão ativado, capaz de remover eficientemente compostos orgânicos. No entanto, para que esse processo seja econômica e ambientalmente viável, o carvão ativado deve ser regenerado com a finalidade de sua reutilização. Desta forma, o presente trabalho tem como objetivo estudar a regeneração por solvente de carvão ativado saturado com ácido acetilsalicílico (AAS) durante ciclos de sorção-regeneração e avaliar a eficiência desse processo com os solventes escolhidos, acetona e etanol, em duas proporções com água destilada, 100% e 50%. Os experimentos consistiram em 5 ciclos de sorção-regeneração com as quatro soluções de solventes sob agitação, reutilizando as soluções de um ciclo para o outro. Os resultados evidenciaram que nos primeiros ciclos a regeneração aumenta a capacidade de remoção do fármaco pelo sólido adsorvente, e que mesmo após 5 ciclos a menor eficiência de regeneração encontrada foi de 82%, para a acetona e água destilada (1:1). Com os resultados obtidos conclui-se que a técnica de regeneração de carvão ativado comercial saturado com AAS se mostrou eficaz para os solventes estudados, bem como para as diferentes proporções utilizadas. Ainda, a acetona 50% foi escolhida como a melhor solução por apresentar menor custo e maior capacidade de recuperação do solvente. ...
