Voltage sags assessment in an industrial consumer : prediction versus monitoring
Abstract in Portuguese

This work deals with voltage sags in an industry located in the region of Porto Alegre. It is known that the major causes of voltage sags in power systems are the short circuits, which are originated by several reasons, the main ones being natural phenomena. To estimate its effects on the system, the number of voltage sags was predicted through the simulation of faults, followed by the comparison with the events obtained by monitoring. The results were also evaluated using indices from IEEE Std. 1564, and from the Brazilian Distribution Procedures (PRODIST), Module 8. Comparison and validation was carried out. It was observed that the total number of events differs, but when voltage sags are stratified for ranges of magnitude, a great similarity is observed. In relation to the evaluation of the proposed indices, it was observed that in all cases the values obtained for both indices were lower than 1, a reference value that demonstrates the adequacy in all scenarios analyzed. It is still possible to analyze the regions of occurrence of faults and events in the SEP (Electrical Power System), where the equipment with occurrence of both faults and voltage sags for the scenarios predicted and monitored, were very close. Thus, satisfactory results were obtained, demonstrating that the proposed method can serve as a basis for the study of other sensitive consumers. ...
