Igreja São Domingos das Torres : espaço, tempo e narrativas de um patrimônio sacro

Abstract

Esta pesquisa se propôs a investigar a Igreja Matriz São Domingos, na condição de patrimônio da cidade de Torres/RS. A investigação deteve-se em analisar e discutir a relação comunidade-patrimônio-cidade, através de marcos temporais, além de dialogar sobre a importância do patrimônio para com o desenvolvimento e apropriação histórica e cultural da cidade. Para o embasamento teórico do trabalho, conceitos como patrimônio, comunidade, memória e identidade auxiliaram na reflexão e no entendimento dessa relação, dialogando com a produção de autores do campo da Museologia e do Patrimônio Cultural, tais como Hugues de Varine, Ivo Maroevic, José Reginaldo Santos Gonçalves, entre outros. O processo metodológico compreendeu análise bibliográfica e documental, com consulta de livros, teses, artigos, sites e redes sociais, bem como a aplicação de entrevistas semi-estruturadas e questionário estruturado, que possibilitaram interpretar indícios dos significados da Igreja para a comunidade, tanto em seu sentido religioso, quanto em edificação histórica. O trabalho ressaltou a importância da preservação patrimonial, tanto em seu sentido próprio, quanto no entorno que o cerca, para que a memória e a identidade de sua comunidade, perpetue para as demais gerações. Conclui que a relação da comunidade com a Igreja Matriz São Domingos, patrimônio histórico/cultural da cidade de Torres/RS, foi construída e ressignificada com o passar dos anos. Entendeu-se também que essa ligação está diretamente relacionada com o sentido de identificação do espaço, atrelado às memórias atribuídas ao local.

This search aimed to investigate São Domingos Matrice Church as heritage of the town of Torres/RS. The investigation intended to analyze and discuss the relation between community-heritage-town through significant marks in time, as well as to explain the importance of heritage towards the development and historical and cultural appropriation of the town. The theoretical framework that grounded this work are concepts like heritage, community, memory and identity, that helped to reflect and understand this relation. The concepts dialogue with the writing production of Museology’s and Cultural Heritage’s field authors, such as Hugues de Varine, Ivo Maroevic, José Reginaldo Santos Gonçalves, among others. The methodological process included bibliographic and documental analysis, researching books, thesis, articles, websites and social networks, it was also applied semi-structured interviews and a structured questionnaire that made possible to understand the significance of the Church to the community, both in its religious value and as an historical construction. The work highlighted the importance of heritage preservation in its own sense and in the environment that surrounds it, so the memory and identity of the community can perpetuate for next generations. It concludes that the relation between the community and São Domingos Matrice Church, cultural and historical heritage of the town of Torres/RS, was built and resigned over the years. It was also implied that this bond is directly related to space recognition and to memories tied to the Church.
