Corpos, fantasmas, movimentos : em direção à arte/teoria da articulação

Abstract

Neste trabalho, faço uma leitura crítica de obras da artista francesa Sophie Calle e do escritor norte-americano Paul Auster, pensando as formas como aproximam diferentes discursos e linguagens. A partir delas, discuto as relações entre as artes, especialmente a literatura e as artes visuais (suas disjunções ou articulações), assim como as aproximações ou misturas entre diferentes gêneros, como o romance, o ensaio, a autobiografia e a autoficção, a poesia, a memória e o diário. Da mesma forma, tomo essas artes e uma parcela do discurso teórico-crítico atual como produções que se pensam enquanto se fazem (ou vice-versa). Isto é, não se percebe, nessa produção, uma divisão entre forma e conteúdo, entre corpo e pensamento, mas sim uma reflexão sobre a própria crise dessas categorias e de outras relacionadas a elas, como a “verdade”. Os limites se expandem ou se tornam mais opacos e, a partir disso, torna-se difícil distinguir a ficção da “não-ficção”, por exemplo. A autoficcionalização e a autorreflexividade textual se unem, assim, à hibridez poético-visual. Sigo, aqui, esses movimentos, essa forma de caminhar, de deambular, através da inserção, junto ao estudo dessas questões, de minha memória pessoal e fotografias que realizei em 2017, nas viagens em busca de objetos, artistas e personagens. Por essas razões, retomo neste trabalho três ideias cruciais no pensamento filosófico, estético, psicanalítico – os corpos, os fantasmas e os movimentos – para pensa-los em relação à produção literária, visual e teórico-crítica moderna e contemporânea.

In this study, I perform a critical reading of works by the French artist Sophie Calle and the American writer Paul Auster in order to think about the ways in which they bring different discourses and artistic languages closer. This also allows us to discuss the relations between the arts, especially literature and the visual arts (their dis-junction or their articulations), as well as the approximations or the mixing of different genres, such as the novel, the essay, the autobiography and autofiction, poetry, memory and the diary. Moreover, I understand the arts and part of the current theoretical-critical discourse as productions which think about their own corpus and their perspectives while being produced/producing them. That is, I do not identify, in these works, a division between form and content, or body and thought, but reflections over the crisis of these and other categories connected to them, such as the concept of “truth”. The limits have been expanded or have become opaquer and, because of that, it has become difficult to distinguish fiction from non-fiction, for instance. Autofictional and self-reflexive elements become part of one text, which is also a poetic-visual hybrid. Thus, I follow these movements here, this way of walking, wandering, through the insertion of my personal memories and of photographs I have taken during my travels, in 2017, in search of objects, artists and characters, among the study of the mentioned questions. For these reasons, I consider, in this dissertation, three crucial ideas in the philosophical, aesthetic and psychoanalytical thinking – bodies, ghosts/phantasms and movements – in order to reflect about the practices of modern and contemporary literature, visual arts, theory and criticism.
