Abstract

This article focusses on apprehending the nature and functioning of the terminological definition (DT), observed beyond the limits of the categories of genus proximum and differentia specifica. The article concludes that the recognition of the defining utterance related to the meaning environment of the scientific languages involved is important, showing that the definition is a multidimensional textual object, with features that make it exceed the more usual or traditional limits of a categorical-logical object. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that a strict a priori separation between concepts and meanings is not functional.
