Em busca das melhores : como critérios de seleção impactam na trajetória de startups

Abstract

Este trabalho foi elaborado com a pretensão de identificar como os aspectos utilizados pela WOW Aceleradora de Startups no seu processo seletivo impactaram na trajetória de seis startups, três que obtiveram sucesso e três que fracassaram. Com o aumento significativo no número de startups no cenário brasileiro, se torna primordial que o processo de seleção de instituições de investimento em tais empresas evolua constantemente. A fim de atingir os objetivos propostos, foi realizada uma pesquisa quantitativa com os empreendedores das startups e o gestor da aceleradora. Foram entrevistados um empreendedor por startup e o gestor da WOW Aceleradora de Startups, analisando-se através de quadros comparativos os casos de sucesso, de desistência e uma comparação geral entre ambos. Os resultados apontam que o mercado não é um grande impactante na trajetória das startups, onde é um padrão que o mercado apresente problemas para o crescimento. O produto das startups se mostrou um critério importante, onde a correta proposição de valor e diferenciação frente os concorrentes se mostrou muito significativo para o sucesso da empresa. O fator mais crucial foi a equipe, onde o potencial de visão de mercado e adequação as demandas existentes foi um determinante para o sucesso e fracasso das startups apresentadas. Sendo assim, este trabalho busca evoluir o processo de seleção de startups por aceleradoras, permitindo a diminuição do risco do investidor.

This work has been elaborated with the objective of identifying how the criteria used by the WOW Startups Accelerator in its selective process influenced the trajectory of six startup companies, of which three that were successful and three that failed. Along with the significant increase in the number of startups in the Brazilian scenario, it is fundamental that the process of selecting investment institutions in such companies is constantly evolving. In order to reach the proposed objectives, a quantitative research was carried out with the entrepreneurs of the startups and the manager of the accelerator company. An entrepreneur for each startup and the manager of WOW Startups Accelerator were submitted to interviews and an analysis was performed through comparative tables of the cases of success, as well as the cases of withdrawal and a general comparison between the two. The results indicate that the market is not a major influence factor on the trajectory of startups, whereas a pattern is verified when the market presents growing problems. The product of the startups proved to be an important criterion, where the correct proposition of value and differentiation vis-a-vis competitors was very important for the company’s success. The most determining factor was the team, where the potential of market vision and adaptation to the existing demands were determining factors for the success and failure of the presented startups. Thus, this work seeks to evolve the process of startup selection by accelerators allowing the reduction of the investor’s risk.
