A biblioteca digital infantil : uma análise de interface e usabilidade

Abstract

As bibliotecas infantis são a porta de entrada para literatura infantil, é por meio da biblioteca que as crianças se deparam com os livros e podem desfrutar dos benefícios da leitura, por isso é imprescindível sua disponibilização de forma livre e agradável. Este estudo objetiva avaliar como se apresentam os catálogos das bibliotecas digitais infantis, segundo a interface e a usabilidade. Para tanto, identifica as bibliotecas digitais com conteúdo infantil, disponíveis online através de seleção em buscadores estabelecidos previamente. Apresenta os sites encontrados fazendo seleção por categorias, disponibilizadas como tabelas e gráficos. Analisa as características das bibliotecas que ficaram na categoria acesso livre. Aplica um checklist para bibliotecas digitais contendo questões que abordam o tema interface e usabilidade. Expõe os resultados desta análise através de ranking das bibliotecas. Avalia estas bibliotecas quanto à interface e a usabilidade, a partir dos critérios identificados na literatura. Relata que o número de bibliotecas digitais infantis existentes ainda é baixo, a maior parte apresenta uma interface agradável e estão se aprimorando cada vez mais. Conclui que as bibliotecas digitais infantis estão em construção e que ainda precisam de mais estudos referentes à usabilidade e o uso de regras de interface, principalmente para atender ao público infantil que está conectado à internet pois a atratividade e retenção desse público vai depender muito de como a biblioteca digital infantil apresenta seu acervo.

Children's libraries are the gateway to children's literature, it is through the library that children come across books and can enjoy the benefits of reading, so it is imperative to make them available in a free and enjoyable way. This study aims to evaluate how catalogs of children's digital libraries are presented, according to the interface and usability. To do so, it identifies digital libraries with children's content, available online through selection in previously established search engines. It presents the sites found by selecting by categories, made available as tables and graphs. It analyzes the characteristics of the libraries that were in the free access category. Apply a checklist for digital libraries containing questions that address the topic of interface and usability. It exposes the results of this analysis through ranking of libraries. It evaluates these libraries for the interface and usability, based on the criteria identified in the literature. It reports that the number of existing children's digital libraries is still low, most have a nice interface and are getting better and better. It concludes that children's digital libraries are under construction and that they still need more studies regarding usability and the use of interface rules, mainly to attend the children's audience that is connected to the Internet, since the attractiveness and retention of this audience will depend a lot on how the children's digital library presents its collection.
