Notas sobre a polêmica dos estilos no gênero histórico : o debate ático x asiático no "Dell'Arte Historica" (1636), de Agostino Mascardi

Abstract

A discussão seiscentista do estilo agudo concernida à oratória e à prosa histórica pode ser pensada como apropriações e particularizações de rivalidades estilísticas e de poderes, que reciclam as disputas romanas pelo estilo; depois, as chamadas arengas “renascentistas”, cujas interpretações católicas, no século XVII, são desdobramentos específicos e singulares. O Dell’Arte Historica (1636) insere-se na polêmica italiana do estilo agudo, dos estilos ciceroniano/anticiceroniano aplicados, principalmente, à oratória sacra e ao gênero histórico do século XVII. Na época, há particularizações também católicas da polêmica em Portugal, na Espanha e na França como demonstra este artigo. Os debates sobre estilo e sobre o poder das representações no tocante ao gênero histórico podem ser interpretados como uma história de longa duração ou longuíssima, pois o chamado ciceronianismo/anticiceronianismo “humanista” dos séculos XV/XVI remonta à querela romana antiga do estilo ático x asiático.

The sixteenth century discussion about acute style, as applied to oratory and historical prose can be thought of as appropriations and particularizations of stylistic rivalries and of powers which recycle the roman dispute for style; further, the so-called “renaissance” feuds that are unique and specific developments in its catholic seventeenth century interpretations. The Dell’Arte Historica (1636) is part of the Italian controversy about acute style included in the discussion of ciceronian versus anti-ciceronian styles applied mainly to the sacred oratory and to the historic genre of the seventeenth century. At the time, there are also catholic particularization of the controversy in Portugal, Spain and France, as demonstrated in this paper. The debates regarding style and the power of representations regarding the historic genre can be interpreted as a history of long or very long duration, because the so-called ciceronian / anti-ciceronian “humanism” of the centuries XV / XVI goes back to the ancient roman discussion about Attic x Asian style.
