O conceito aristotélico de mimese, tal como utilizado na Poética de Aristóteles, esclarece o regime de historicidade na tragédia grega e funda, simultaneamente, uma teoria da cultura. Empregado para a compreensão da história, o conceito de mimese permite aqui pensar a tradição, traçando paralelos entre a Antígona de Sófocles, o Rei Lear de Shakespeare e diversos aspectos da cultura brasileira, no que tange às relações entre contratualidade e cordialidade. As used by Aristotle in his Poetics, the concept of mimesis enlightens the standards of historicity of Greek tragedy and, simultaneously, inaugurates a theory of culture. Applied to the understanding of History, the concept of mimesis permits, hereby, to analyze the parallels between the tragedies Antigone of Sophocles, and King Lear of Shakespeare, and several aspects of Brazilian culture, considering questions of contractuality and cordiality.
