Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

Abstract
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas are the second most common cancer in patients infected by human immunodeficiency virus and are particularly more common in patients with advanced immune depression. They usually present in advanced stages, with extranodal involvement and “B symptoms”. HIV-associated Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas have a worse prognosis than those occurring in HIVnegative patients. The standard treatment has not yet been established due to the lack of randomized clinical trials and because it is ...
The standard treatment has not yet been established due to the lack of randomized clinical trials and because it is difficult to compare results obtained in different periods during acquired immunodeficiency syndrome disease epidemics. The enhanced outcomes seen in more recent published series could be related to the modern infusional chemotherapy regimens or the introduction of effective antiretroviral therapy and opportunistic infections prophylaxis. ...
