Este trabalho é resultado da experiência de um ano de acompanhamento das artesãs de uma cooperativa de reciclagem, o Clube de Reciclagem Morro da Cruz, um grupo de mulheres, habitantes de uma vila popular de Porto Alegre, que produz artesanato a partir do lixo. Este trabalho é resultado da experiência de um ano de acompanhamento das artesãs de uma cooperativa de reciclagem, o Clube de Reciclagem Morro da Cruz, um grupo de mulheres, habitantes de uma vila popular de Porto Alegre, que produz artesanato a partir do lixo. O Clube tem como produtos bolsas, acessórios e peças de vestuário em geral, destinadas a um mercado segmentado que prima pela originalidade no vestir. O objetivo principal desta monografia é a compreensão dos processos de criação utilizados pelas artesãs e de como a produção adquire diferentes significados dependendo de como é usada. Além do diálogo com a bibliografia sobre o tema da moda, apresento exemplos ilustrativos de como acontecem os fluxos de significado, ou seja, de como as peças do Clube de Reciclagem adquirem valor simbólico diferenciado dependendo das configurações de uso. Também destaco, de maneira enfática, a importância da cultura popular, e faço uso da noção de bricolagem para mostrar como opera a criatividade neste campo da moda, dita alternativa. ...
