O sujeito entre culturas : o espaço da diferença no encontro com o outro/Outro

Abstract

Nesta tese, inscritos no aparato teórico da Análise do Discurso francesa, temos como propósito analisar o discurso de brasileiros que estão residindo no exterior a mais de uma ano. Participaram desta pesquisa 18 brasileiros que residiam nas localidades de Portugal, Espanha, França, México, EUA, Nigéria, Angola, Taiwan, Noruega, Doha, Alemanha, Suíça, Londres, Canadá, com os quais conversamos por skype a fim de obter os relatos sobre suas experiências no exterior. A partir dos discursos destes brasileiros buscamos analisar pistas que indiciem modos de subjetivação permitindo-nos lançar um gesto de interpretação sobre os sujeitos que se inserem em outra língua e outra cultura, uma vez que o sujeito se constitui pela ordem do simbólico, e é pelo significante que ele se define. No movimento para além fronteiras destes sujeitos - fronteiras não só geográficas, mas de significados - são usados diferentes termos para designar estes sujeitos, tais como imigrante, estrangeiro e expatriado, termos cujos sentidos deslizam dependendo do lugar que ocupam estes sujeitos no espaço do outro. Neste percurso trazemos para discussão as relações de poder que se estabelecem entre países, bem como os lugares que ocupam estes brasileiros quando em países desenvolvidos e em países periféricos, além da visão que tem de seu país de origem, o Brasil. Uma contribuição desta pesquisa para análise do discurso é a ressignificação da noção de cultura neste campo de estudo, onde passa a ser entendida relacionada às noções de ideologia e inconsciente. A cultura, neste âmbito, compreende um lugar de interpretação (De Nardi, 2007) a partir do qual se pode perceber as posições que os sujeitos ocupam, sendo também um lugar de resistência - já que comporta a falha. A cultura pode ser entendida como as práticas que promovem o laço social, a partir do qual surge o sentimento de pertença, ao mesmo tempo em que serve de suporte na produção das subjetividades e dos sentidos, daí o caráter assujeitador da cultura operando em paralelo com as noções de ideologia, história, discurso e inconsciente, todos tomados em sua porosidade, equívoco e contradição. O sujeito, enquanto estrangeiro em país desenvolvido, deseja pertencer, fazer parte da outra cultura, no entanto, a diferença atestada na imagem do imigrante vindo de países periféricos é rejeitada e marginalizada. Frente a esta rejeição, os sujeitos se voltam para seu país, com o qual já não de identificam mais, colocando-se, assim, num entre culturas. Dessa forma, refletir sobre a noção de cultura em AD, é ver além do espetáculo para perceber o caráter estereotipado que tem sido atribuído à cultura, mascarando seu potencial transformador.

In this thesis, inscribed in the theoretical apparatus of the French Discourse Analysis, we aim to analyze the discourse of Brazilians who have been living abroad for more than a year. Participated in this survey 18 Brazilians that were living in Portugal, Spain, France, Mexico, USA, Nigeria, Angola, Taiwan, Norway, Doha, Germany, Switzerland, London, Canada, to whom we talked through skype in order to obtain their reports about their experiences abroad. In the discourses of these Brazilians we looked for clues that indicated ways of subjectivation allowing us to launch a gesture of interpretation about the subjects that are in touch with another language and another culture, due to the fact that the subject is constituted by the order of the symbolic, and it is by the Significant that it is defined. In the movement of these subjects across borders - not only geographical borders, but borders of meanings - different terms are used to designate these subjects, such as immigrant, foreigner and expatriate, terms that acquire different meanings depending on the position these subjects find themselves in the space of the other. We also bring to discussion the power relationships that are established among countries, as well as the positions that these Brazilians occupy when in developed countries and when in peripheral countries, in addition to the vision that they have of their country of origin, Brazil. One contribution of this research to discourse analysis is the resignification of the notion of culture in this field of study, where it becomes understood in relation to the notions of ideology and unconscious. Culture, in this context, comprises a place of interpretation (De Nardi, 2007) from which one can perceive the positions that the subjects occupy, being also a place of resistance - since it holds the fault. Culture can be understood as the practices that promote the social bond, from which the feeling of belonging arises at the same time as it serves as a support in the production of the subjectivities and of the meanings, whence the dominat character of the culture operates in parallel with the notions of ideology, history, discourse and unconscious, all taken in their porosity, equivocation and contradiction. The subject, as a foreigner in a developed country, wishes to belong, to be part of the other culture; however, the difference attested by the image of the immigrant coming from peripheral countries is rejected and marginalized. Facing this rejection, the subjects turn to their country, with which they no longer identify themselves, thus finding themselves in a cross-cultural context. Reflecting on the notion of culture in AD means to see beyond the spectacle trying to perceive the stereotyped character that has been attributed to culture disguising its transforming potential.
