Economic feasability analysis of the utilization of swine originated biogas for eletric power generation
Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

This work presents a methodology to afford an economic feasibility analysis of the utilization of swine originated biogas for eletric power generation. The mathematical model proposed by Chen and Hashimoto, 1978, is choosen to predict methane generation. The costs for building and operating covered lagoon biodigesters and power generators are evaluated, in the light of the number of sows and concentration of volatile solids in the manure. Financial indicators VPL and payback are used for the economic evaluation. The results have shown that the investment is feasible only for farms with 400 sows or more and a influent volatile solid concentration between 40 and 80 kg/m³. ...
