Neste trabalho foi avaliada a viabilidade do uso da técnica de decomposição Adomiana modificada para simular duas classes de modelos típicos encontrados na Engenharia Química: reator CSTR isotérmico e de coluna de destilação binária. A modificação da técnica de Adomian empregada neste trabalho foi a partição do intervalo de integração em subintervalos, modificação esta proposta por Younker (2011), com o intuito de resolver o problema da divergência polinomial que ocorre na técnica original. A implementação dos estudos de caso foi feita no software Maple® 15.00 da Maplesoft®. Para tanto, foram implementados os modelos simplificados de um reator CSTR isotérmico de coluna de destilação. No caso da coluna de destilação, foi empregada uma aproximação da relação de equilíbrio através de série de Taylor e por polinômios de Chebyshev. Para validação dos resultados, comparou-se a solução obtida com a solução dada pelo método numérico de Runge-Kutta. O método proposto obteve resultados promissores, uma vez que foi possível obter a solução analítica para o modelo de reator com um erro mínimo em relação à solução numérica, e uma solução para o modelo de coluna com um erro na ordem de 10-4. ...
