Células solares sensibilizadas por corante (DSSCs) são formadas por nanoestruturas de dióxido de titânio (TiO2) funcionalizadas com espécies orgânicas (chamadas de “corantes”), que absorvem radiação solar convertendo-a em energia elétrica. O presente trabalho visa o estudo preliminar da adsorção de moléculas orgânicas contendo o grupo funcional ácido carboxílico, típico de corantes usados em DSSCs, em superfícies e nanoestruturas de dióxido de titânio, fazendo uso de simulações de dinâmica molecular clássica. Para isto foi utilizado o software LAMMPS em conjunto com o campo de forças reativo ReaxFF. Foram conduzidos testes de adsorção para diferentes superfícies da fase anatase de TiO2, para uma nanopartícula esférica e para um nanotubo. Nesses testes foram utilizadas diferentes ácidos carboxílicos de pequena cadeia, uma vez que esta função orgânica está presente em grande parte das moléculas de corante utilizadas para este fim. Estes testes mostraram que a adsorção é favorável energeticamente e que a adsorção física se dá pela interação entre os átomos de oxigênio presentes na superfície não passivada de TiO2 e os átomos de hidrogênio presentes na molécula de adsorbato. Foi possível verificar as superfícies mais propícias para funcionalização com estas moléculas. ...
