Laboratory teaching and the low-cost equipment issue
Abstract in Portuguese (Brasil)

Problems, possible solutions and potentialities of experimental science teaching are discussed focusing the laboratory materials issue, particularly the so-called low-cost materials. lt is argued that, without a minimum of good industrialized and technically designed materiais, to which teachers could add locally developed materials, including low-cost ones, it is difficult to keep experimental teaching from becoming trivial. The effort in a laboratory materials production/dissemination, held by a number of Brazilian univerisities, is stressed as wel responsibiljty in preparing more teachers for the effective use of those materials in science classes. ...
