O mercado cada vez mais competitivo da indústria do petróleo e petroquímica exige das empresas que atuam nesse ramo a busca constante por minimização de custos e maximização de produção. O mercado cada vez mais competitivo da indústria do petróleo e petroquímica exige das empresas que atuam nesse ramo a busca constante por minimização de custos e maximização de produção. Neste contexto surgiu a necessidade de estudar o Sistema de Água de Processo da Braskem UNIB com o objetivo de verificar se ele segue adequadamente dimensionado para as novas vazões depois que a unidade passou por um aumento da capacidade produtiva. O sistema é composto de duas torres de destilação, dois permutadores, uma bomba, uma placa de orifício e uma válvula de controle. Os possíveis limitadores de vazão são as tubulações, a bomba e a válvula de controle. As tubulações foram avaliadas usando equações clássicas de escoamento de fluidos em tubulações, a bomba através dos NPSH requerido e disponível e para analisar a válvula de controle foi utilizado o software ValSpec. Para as tubulações os valores de velocidade de escoamento do fluido estão de acordo com os intervalos recomendados na literatura, o que indica que elas estão adequadas para a nova vazão. A bomba não sofre cavitação nas condições normais de operação, pois o NPSH disponível é maior que o NPSH requerido. A válvula de controle se mostrou um limitante de vazão. Ela foi avaliada comparando o valor do coeficiente de vazão indicado pelo fabricante e o Cv requerido nas condições de processo. Como o Cv requerido é maior que o da válvula conclui-se que esta deve ser substituída para que a planta possa operar na sua nova capacidade produtiva máxima. ...
