Fluxorama : a edição de materiais de divulgação científica em outros fluxos

Abstract

A presente pesquisa investiga elementos processuais, estéticos e conceituais do projeto Fluxorama a partir da análise dos trabalhos Meteorito e Cadeira e Plano Energético Causal. Na elaboração de tais trabalhos, o referido projeto faz uso de ilustrações extraídas de antigos livros de divulgação científica e enciclopédias. Deslocadas de seus contextos originais, essas imagens articulam-se como elementos geradores de reconfigurações visuais e narrativas ficcionais, empregando nessas operações referências do campo das artes visuais, do cinema ou do gênero de literatura fantástica e adotando diferentes formatações – instalação, objeto, fotografia e colagem manual. Partindo da abordagem dos trabalhos Meteorito e Cadeira e Plano Energético Causal são lançadas questões teóricas que permeiam a escrita do presente texto. As relações entre o campo artístico e o imaginário visual da ciência são problematizadas através da análise das operações processuais de leitura e edição, onde as mesmas não possuem um sentido fechado. Assim, a ideia de leitura e a noção de edição funcionam como práticas que buscam instaurar novos modos de existência para ilustrações antigas. Enquanto que a leitura praticada concentra-se na busca por imagens, a operação de edição intenta a criação de narrativas ficcionais, misturando-as com informações e dados históricos. Em relação ao modo de apresentação dos trabalhos analisados, são investigados como funcionam os modelos de demonstração e a retórica de exposição empregados pelo campo científico.

This study investigates the processional, aesthetical, and conceptual elements of the Fluxorama project based on the analysis of the Meteorito e Cadeira and of the Plano Energético Causal works. In the process of elaborating such works, the Fluxorama project counted on illustrations from old scientific books and encyclopedias. Taken out of their original contexts, those images constitute elements that generate visual reconfigurations and fictional narratives by employing references from the visual arts, from the cinema, or from the Fantasy genre literature, and also by adopting different formats – installation art, object, photography, and manual collage. From the approach to the works above, theoretical questions within this written text are presented. The relationships between the artistic field and the visual imagery of science are questioned through the analysis of the processional operations of reading and editing, which do not have one single sense. Thus, the idea of reading and the notion of editing act as practices to establish new existence ways for old illustrations. While the reading operation concentrated on the search for images, the editing operation aimed at creating fictional narratives, having been added to them information and historical data. In relation to how the analyzed works were displayed, we investigated how the demonstration models as well as the exhibition rhetoric by the scientific field work.
