| pt_BR |
dc.description.abstract | Against the background of a quasi-opposition between two readings of Disgrace – one by A. Crary and another by A. van Heerden – which hold, respectively, that the moral purpose of the novel is to convince about the nature of the moral limitations of David Lurie and to bring into view the Puritanism of the South Africa post-Apartheid, I am going to argue that the vision of Coetzee as a moral thinker is doubtful given the timorous treatment by the novel of part of its central theme: the moral nature of desire. | en |
