O processo de integração da suinocultura em Vila Maria / RS

Abstract

Em Vila Maria (RS) a passagem da suinocultura tradicional para a suinocultura de integração se deu em função da falta de mão de obra no meio rural e, posteriormente, ao aumento dos custos de produção, se comparado com o valor agregado ao quilo bruto dos animais. A partir disso, a grande maioria dos produtores aderiu à integração de suínos, onde se tem a possibilidade de agregar valor ao produto. Desta forma houve mudanças no cenário da suinocultura do município e, com isso, aumentaram os problemas ambientais, fazendo com que as autoridades e os próprios produtores começassem a pensar em maneiras de reduzir impactos. Neste sentido, este trabalho trata sobre a passagem da suinocultura tradicional para a suinocultura de integração, bem como do manejo e tratamento dos dejetos dos suínos no município de Vila Maria/RS. Com o objetivo de investigar a mudança social, ambiental e cultural decorrentes da transição na suinocultura de Vila Maria/RS, o estudo caracteriza-se como qualitativo, fazendo uso da pesquisa bibliográfica (especialmente de artigos acadêmicos relativos ao assunto em pauta) e da pesquisa de campo, que teve como instrumento de coleta de dados a entrevista. Esta foi realizada com quatro sujeitos ligados à suinocultura do município de Vila Maria: 1) chefe do escritório da EMATER de Vila Maria; 2) um funcionário da Granja Vila Maria/RS; 3) um dos sócios proprietários da Granja Vila Maria/RS; 4) um vizinho próximo à Granja Vila Maria. Os principais resultados encontrados apontaram para a necessidade de preservação do meio ambiente para o futuro das gerações, cabendo aos produtores, não priorizar o fator econômico, mas o desenvolvimento de uma atenção holística, que considere o fator econômico, social e ambiental. Essa seja, talvez, a grande tarefa do suinocultor de hoje, comprometido com novas formas de atuação e gestão da suinocultura de integração intensiva.

In Vila Maria (RS), the transition from traditional pig to pig integration was due to the lack of manpower in rural areas and subsequently to increased production costs compared to the gross value added per kilogram of animals. From this, the vast majority of producers joined the integration of pigs, where there’s the possibility to add value to the product. Thus there were changes in the scenery of the city swine, and with it, environmental problems increased, making the authorities and the producers think in ways to reduce impacts. In this way, this work deals with the transition from traditional swine to swine integration as well as the management and treatment of swine waste in the municipality of Vila Maria / RS. With the objective of investigating the social, environmental and cultural change arising of Vila Maria/RS swine transition, the study is characterized as qualitative, using the bibliographic research (specially academic articles concerning the subject in matter) and the field research, which had the interview as a tool of data collection. This interview was performed with four subjects linked to the municipal swine in Vila Maria: 1) The CEO of EMATER in Vila Maria; 2) an employee of The Vila Maria/RS Farm; 3) one of the partner owners of The Vila Maria / RS Farm; 4) a close neighbor to the Vila Maria Farm. The main found results pointed to the need of the environmental preservation for the future generations, fitting to producers not to prioritize the economic factor, but the development of an holistic attention, that consider the economic, social and environmental factor. Maybe this is the great task of today’s swine producer, committed to new performance and management ways of the intensive swine integration.
