This work aims to recover the lives of the seamen who served in the Atlantic during the Great Navigations (XV-XVI centuries). In this period, generally one studies and research in profusion economic relations, policy and technology inherent in nautical knowledge. However, there remains a large gap when it comes to talking about the actors who performed the navigations. Speaking if the Colombos, Cabotos and Vespúcios, but little or nothing about pulling the anchors, which provided food or craft that launched the unknown integrating with the native populations, forming new settlements. We intend to get the day-to-day lives of these seafarers, whether in boats or on the fringes of the Atlantic, the west or the east of the ocean, the coasts of West Africa and the coasts of South America were held to just reading and analyzing reports navigators and travelers of the period in question. It was also found that a bibliography is not only the specific topic of the seamen, but also more general aspects of the period of transition from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age, as power relations, slavery, everyday life, colonialism and meeting of civilizations. Until now it was possible to detect various points of life uncertain and full of hardships that led the group of seafarers, and identify several other sources and references about them. Also we were able to understand the daily life largely lived in the boats, the careers and lives of seafarers in the Atlantic world.en
