Educação em saúde bucal : um olhar sobre as publicações

Abstract

A educação em saúde bucal vem sendo trabalhada com diferentes abordagens, mas já demonstrou ser instrumento aliado para inserção crítica do sujeito na realidade. O objetivo desse estudo foi realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre o tema „educação em saúde bucal‟, analisando seus sujeitos, estratégias metodológicas e formas de avaliação. Foi conduzida busca bibliográfica com o tema “educação em saúde bucal” de 2000 a 2011 nas seguintes bases de dados nacionais e internacionais, a saber: SCIELO, Biblioteca Brasileira de Odontologia (BBO), Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Biomedical Journal Literature a serviço da National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE/PubMed) e Portal CAPES. A busca limitou-se a artigos com abstract na língua inglesa e portuguesa. Após a obtenção dos resultados de busca e leitura dos títulos e resumos, os artigos selecionados foram obtidos na íntegra e analisados. A seleção final aconteceu após a leitura dos mesmos, exclusão dos repetidos e dos que não se encontravam nos critérios de inclusão, resultando em 63 artigos. Os grupos mais observados nas atividades educativas em saúde bucal foram os pré-escolares e escolares, seguidos pelos profissionais de saúde e idosos. O uso dos folhetos educativos foi o método mais observado, seguido pela palestra/ instrução verbal, cartazes e demonstrações com o uso de macromodelos. Dos instrumentos de avaliação descritos, o questionário foi o mais citado, seguido pela associação exames clínicos e questionário e somente exames clínicos. Há necessidade de se repensar os aspectos educativos que ainda desafiam os programas de saúde bucal.

The oral health education has been worked with different approaches, but has proven to be an instrument for inserting critical ally of the subject in reality. The objective of this study was to review literature on the subject 'oral health education', analyzing the subject, methodological strategies and forms of assessment. Literature search was conducted with the theme "dental health education" from 2000 to 2011 in the following databases nationally and internationally, namely SCIELO, Brazilian Library of Dentistry (BBO), the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS), Biomedical Journal Literature in the service of the National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE / PubMed) and CAPES portal. The search was limited to articles with abstract in English and Portuguese. After obtaining the search results and reading the titles and abstracts, the selected articles were obtained and analyzed in full. The final selection took place after reading them, and repeated exclusion of those who were not in the inclusion criteria, resulting in 63 articles. The groups observed in the oral health education activities were pre-schools, schools, followed by health professionals and the elderly. The use of educational leaflets was the most observed, followed by speech / verbal instruction, demonstrations and posters with the use of macro models. Assessment tools described, the questionnaire was the most cited, followed by the association and clinical questionnaire and clinical examination alone. There is a need to rethink the educational aspects that still challenge oral health programs.
