Abstract

O artigo discute a poética visual de Andres Serrano, seguindo o percurso de criação do artista. Realiza-se um recorte das produções visuais de Serrano, a explorar como temas de suas obras a sexualidade e a profanação da religião católica. O estudo reafirma que as produções singulares de cada artista geralmente não acontecem no vácuo, elas afloram e se afirmam, acredita-se, quando comparadas a outras que as precederam.

The article discusses Andres Serrano's visual poetics following the artist's creative journey. A selection of Serrano's visual productions is made, exploring sexuality and the profanation of the Catholic religion as themes in his works. The study reaffirms that the unique productions of each artist generally do not happen in a vacuum, they emerge and assert themselves, it is believed, when compared to others that preceded them.
