dc.description.abstractPropene is oligomerized in the presence of Ni(MeCN)₆(BF₄)₂ and alkylaluminum compounds like Al₂Et₆₋nCln (n = 0, 2, 3 or 4). The catalyst system perfomance is determinated by the cocatalyst type. Under mild reaction conditions (at 50ºC and 8 atm propene pressure) turnover frequencies of 37.000h-¹ has been achieved with selectivities of 66% in 2-methyl-2-pentene. The catalytic behaviour is attributed to a cationic nickel hydride active species, as LnHNi⁺, containing the alkylaluminum compound coordinated to the nickel site.en
