Percepção d discentes sobre o uso do Bitcoin

Abstract

Este estudo teve por objetivo evidenciar a percepção dos estudantes de ciências contábeis, atuariais e econômicas da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) em relação ao uso do Bitcoin, um ativo virtual, criado com o intuito de substituir o dinheiro físico, tanto sob a ótica do seu uso como uma moeda quanto sob a ótica do seu uso como um investimento. A pesquisa classifica-se como qualitativa, descritiva e levantamento, sendo feita por meio do uso de questionário. A amostra consistiu em 127 estudantes dos cursos supracitados. Identificou-se que, apesar de receosos quanto à volatilidade e de seu pouco uso como moeda ou como investimento, há uma percepção, em geral, favorável de que o Bitcoin assumirá uma posição de meio de trocas universal no longo prazo. Além disso, identificou-se que muitos estudantes admitem não ter conhecimento algum sobre o assunto e que, dentre os estudantes que admitem ter conhecimento sobre o assunto, há influência de sua renda familiar, bem como experiências anteriores com o Bitcoin.

This study aimed to highlight the perception of students of accounting, actuarial and economic sciences at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in relation to the use of Bitcoin, a virtual asset created with the objective of replace the physical money, both from the perspective of its use as a currency and from the perspective of the use of Bitcoin. its use as an investment. The research is classified as qualitative, descriptive and survey, being done through the use of a questionnaire. The sample consisted of 127 students from the aforementioned courses. It was identified that, despite fears about volatility and its little use as a currency or as an investment, there is a generally favorable perception that Bitcoin will assume a position as a universal medium of exchange in the long term. In addition, it was identified that many students admit not having any knowledge about the subject and that, among the students who admit having knowledge about the subject, there is an influence of their family income, as well as previous experiences with Bitcoin.
