Transformações nos sistemas agrários até meados do século XX na região Noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil)

Abstract

Operíodo que vai do final do século XVIII até a chegada dos primeiros imigrantes europeus não ibéricos, ou seus descendentes,no início do século XX,na região Noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil) é escassamente analisado com o uso da teoria dos sistemas agrários. Frente a esse contexto, o presente estudo tem por objetivo caracterizar as distintas configurações agrárias e analisar as causas das transformações ocorridas na agricultura dessa região,desde a ocupação exclusivamente indígena até o período imediatamente anterior à modernização da agricultura,na década de 1960. Com base na teoria dos sistemas agrários reconstituiu-se a evolução e a diferenciação da agricultura ao longo desse tempo,identificando-se a existência de três sistemas agrários, denominados indígena,caboclo e colonial.Além de analisar suas configurações, o artigo discute as causas do declínio de cada um dos referidos sistemas.

The period that goes from the end of the 18th century until the arrival of the first non-Iberian European immigrants, or their descendants,in the early 20th century, in the Northwest region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) is sparcely analyzed using the theory of agrarian systems.In this context, the present study aims to characterize the difference between the agrarian configurations and analyze the causes of the transformations that occurred in agriculture in that region,from the exclusively indigenous occupation until the period immediately before the modernization of agriculture, in the 1960s.Based on the theory of agrarian systems, the paper reconstitutes the evolution and differentiation of agriculture over that time, identifying the existence of three agrarian systems namely indigenous,caboclo and colonial. In addition to analyzing its configurations,the article discusses the causes of the decline of each of these systems.
