Aspectos ambientais da produção do arroz orgânico na Região Metropolitana de Porto Alegre, RS

Abstract

Este trabalho descreve o cultivo do arroz orgânico na região metropolitana de Porto Alegre, mais especificamente no município de Viamão, observando seu manejo, custos e produtividade bem como alguns aspectos ambientais. Justifica-se, devido ao fato de o Rio Grande do Sul ser o maior produtor nacional de arroz, e, por ser esta cultura, relevante para a economia nacional e mesmo mundial. No contraponto do cultivo do arroz orgânico apresenta a cultura do arroz convencional e faz um comparativo entre estes sistemas de cultivo. Esta pesquisa usou como referência o Assentamento Filhos de Sepé por estar inserida em uma Área de Preservação Permanente (APP) no Banhado dos Pachecos, na cidade de Viamão, região metropolitana de Porto Alegre. Ainda com relação ao arroz orgânico, foi aplicado um questionário no qual alguns produtores orgânicos responderam questões referente às suas práticas de manejo, produtividade e sua relação com o meio ambiente. No decorrer do estudo se evidenciou que embora a produtividade por hectare do arroz orgânico seja menor em relação ao arroz convencional, o custo de produção é menor, o que torna o arroz orgânico tanto ou mais interessante, se for considerado o impacto ambiental.

This work describes the cultivation of organic rice in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, more specifically in the municipality of Viamão, observing its management, costs and productivity as well as its environmental aspects. It is justified, due to the fact that Rio Grande do Sul is the largest national producer of rice, and, as this culture is relevant to the national and even world economy. In the counterpoint of organic rice cultivation, it presents the conventional rice culture and makes a comparison between these cultivation systems. city of Viamão, metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. Still with regard to organic rice, a questionnaire was applied in which some organic producers answered questions regarding their management practices, productivity and their relationship with the environment. In the course of the study, it became clear that although the productivity per hectare of organic rice is lower than that of conventional rice, the cost of production is lower, which makes organic rice as much or more interesting, considering the environmental impact.
