Crescimento econômico de Dubai no período 1971-2009

Abstract

O crescimento econômico é um dos tópicos das ciências econômicas mais estudado no último século. Muitos modelos foram criados e, posteriormente, aperfeiçoados. A teoria do crescimento endógeno difere das ideias anteriores ao internalizar o componente tecnológico ao modelo, concluindo que a geração de conhecimento é o verdadeiro motor do crescimento econômico. Baseado nesta teoria e em suas ramificações, este trabalho se propõe a analisar o crescimento de uma cidade- Estado específica, Dubai, localizada nos Emirados Árabes Unidos. Utilizando recursos petrolíferos, o governo criou uma infraestrutura sócio-econômica capaz de atrair um capital humano de altíssimo nível, gerando crescimento econômico numa rapidez impressionante.

The way the economic growth works is certainly one of the most studied topics of the science of economics in the last century. Many models were created and, then, improved. The theory of endogenous growth is different from the previous ideas due to the internalization of the tecnological component to the model, concluding that the generation of knowledge is the real gage of the economic growth. Based on this theory and in its branches, this work tries to analize the growth of a specific city-State Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Using oil revenues, the government created a socialeconomic infrastructure capable of atracting high valued human capital, generating economic growth in an impressive and fast way.
