Ganha-se cada vez mais importância a cadeia produtiva do leite no contexto da geração de renda no Rio Grande do Sul. Ganha-se cada vez mais importância a cadeia produtiva do leite no contexto da geração de renda no Rio Grande do Sul. Entretanto, crescem também as dificuldades enfrentadas para produção deste alimento. Isto está associado à instabilidade nos preços, alto custo produtivo, e até às fraudes que fragilizam a cadeia leiteira, estimulando pequenos produtores a repensarem a atividade. Por ser um dos alimentos mais importantes no mundo, ser uma boa alternativa ao pequeno agricultor (produção primária com escala, no interior de pequenas propriedades, gerando mensalmente reforço na receita), além de gerar emprego e contribuir à diminuição do êxodo rural, buscou-se com esse estágio, obter um quadro realista da atual situação do setor, com destaque para as dificuldades enfrentadas na continuação da atividade no contexto familiar do Nordeste Gaúcho. O trabalho foi realizado na Fazenda Cascata, em Maximiliano de Almeida - RS, auxiliando nas etapas envolvidas no manejo de bovinos de leite como, acompanhamento da rotina da ordenha, manejo do pastejo, manejo dos cochos, trato dos bezerros, medição da produção de leite/vaca, teste da "raquete", e ainda, o acompanhamento de atividades das lavouras de milho, e coletas de solo para análise química. ...
