Proteção contra incêndios das bibliotecas central e setoriais da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) : avaliação quantitativa dos equipamentos e procedimentos

Abstract

O incêndio é entre os sinistros (fogo, água e vento) o que causa maiores destruições nas bibliotecas motivo pelo qual sua prevenção e combate devem ser motivo de ações concretas em todas as instituições responsáveis por acervos. Este trabalho de conclusão de curso (TCC) tem como tema central a proteção contra incêndios e suas particularidades, nas bibliotecas da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). O referencial teórico descreve as bibliotecas universitárias como instituições de apoio às atividades de ensino, pesquisa e extensão de instituições de ensino superior. Inclui, igualmente, uma revisão da literatura sobre a preservação dos materiais que compõe o acervo, dentre os quais destacam-se o papel, das proteções passivas e ativas. Na questão específica relativa aos incêndios, fornece, além das características do fogo e dos diversos tipos de incêndio, esclarecimentos sobre os métodos de prevenção usualmente empregados em Bibliotecas que são: os sistemas de alarme e detecção de incêndio e fumaça, sistema de combate e iluminação de emergência. A descrição dos equipamentos de combate a incêndios (sprinkles, misting, extintores e hidrantes) e, finalizando os aspectos teóricos apresentando o plano de emergência como sendo um documento que visa identificar a vulnerabilidade do edifício às possíveis situações de emergência, antecipar seus potenciais efeitos, apontar maneiras de preveni-los, delegar responsabilidades e sugerir um plano de ação e de recuperação em caso de emergência. Foi utilizado o método de pesquisa descritiva com abordagem quantitativa e o instrumento de coleta de dados utilizado foi o questionário. A pesquisa foi realizada com todas as 36 bibliotecas que compõe o Sistema de Bibliotecas Universitárias da UFRGS (SBU/UFRGS) nos quatros campi, além da biblioteca existente na cidade de Imbé RS (CECLIMAR). O objetivo geral do trabalho foi conhecer as políticas de preservação dos acervos contra incêndios existentes nas bibliotecas setoriais e na Biblioteca Central da UFRGS, e teve como objetivos específicos indicar a existência ou não de políticas de proteção do acervo, dos usuários e da equipe de trabalho existente nas bibliotecas, enumerar as ações de preservação ou proteção dos acervos, identificar os principais equipamentos de proteção utilizados e a situação em que se encontram. Em relação à segurança das bibliotecas da UFRGS, contra incêndios, não há políticas no âmbito geral e somente algumas ações individuais de algumas unidades.

The fire is between claims (fire, water and wind) that causes the greatest destruction in libraries so that their prevention and control shall be of concrete actions in all institutions responsible for collections. The Monograph is the central theme and its fire protection features in the libraries of the Federal Universidade of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). The theoretical framework describes the university libraries and institutions to support activities of teaching, research and extension of higher education institutions. It also includes a review of the literature on the preservation of materials that make up the body, among which are the role of passive and active protection. On the specific issue on fires, provides, in addition to the characteristics of fire and various types of fire, details of the methods of prevention usually employed in libraries are: the alarm systems and detection of fire and smoke, and lighting system to combat emergency. A description of fire fighting equipment (sprinkler, misting, hydrants and extinguishers), and concludes the theoretical aspects presented the emergency plan as a document that aims to identify the vulnerability of the building for possible emergency situations, anticipating their potential effects, pointing out ways to prevent them, delegate responsibilities and suggest a plan of action and recovery in case of emergency. We used the descriptive research method with quantitative approach and data collection instrument used was the questionnaire. The research was conducted with all 36 libraries that make up the System of University Libraries, UFRGS (SBU / UFRGS) in four fields, in addition to the existing library in the city of Imbé-RS (CECLIMAR). The general objective of the study was to know the policies for preservation of existing collections in the fire and library sector at the Central Library, UFRGS, and has specific objectives indicate the existence of policies to protect the collection, users and team work existing in libraries, list the shares of preservation or protection of collections, identify the main protection equipment used and the situation in which they are. Regarding security of libraries, UFRGS, fire, there are no policies within general and only some actions of some individual units.
