This essay analyses the novel Ópera dos Mortos, by Autran Dourado, under the perspective of intertextuality. Although it is possible to find several intertexts in this narrative, only some of them will be object of this study. In order to follow this approach, we will focus on the intertextual dia- logue it establishes with some of Heraclitus' fragments, with the tragedies (plays) Antigona and Oedipus The King, by Sophocles, and also with Dom Quixote, by Cervantes. We intend to show the signs of these intertexts in the novel, especially concerning the characters, which have shown several things in common once they were compared.en
