| pt_BR |
dc.description.abstract | Aim: To evaluate and compare the radiopacity of three bioceramic cements using two in vitro methods. Methodology: Twelve samples of each material (NeoMTA Plus, Biodentine, MTA Angelus) were prepared for each method. For the disc method evaluation, the bioceramic cements were prepared and inserted into circular holes of an acrylic plate. After setting, radiographic images of the samples, along with an aluminum scale, were obtained using a digital system. For the evaluation of the radiopacity of the materials in a tissue simulator, polyethylene tubes were filled with the materials. After material setting, the tubes were inserted into the root canal of a human canine positioned in the tissue simulator and radiographed with a digital system. The images were analyzed using Adobe Photoshop software. To compare the radiopacity among the cements, the data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey’s test. To compare methods, the data were evaluated by the Student’s unpaired t-test. To compare the data obtained from dentin and aluminum stepwedge with the one from the cements in the second method images, the Student’s paired t-test was used. The significance level was set at 5%. Results: All bioceramic cements presented higher radiopacity when using the tissue simulator method. In both methods, NeoMTA Plus and MTA Angelus presented higher radiopacity than Biodentine (P<.05). Biodentine in the disc method was the only material that presented no significant difference compared to 3 mm of Al (P≥.05). All the bioceramic cements tested showed significantly higher radiopacity than dentin. Conclusion: Despite the lower radiopacity of Biodentine, all materials presented adequate results, as recommended by ANSI/ADA. The tissue simulator method presents a methodological alternative to approach the in vitro studies of clinical reality. | en |
