Concepções sobre a gênese da Ciência da Informação

Abstract

Compila seletivamente autores e reúne suas visões sobre a história e desenvolvimento da Ciência da Informação (CI). Compara tais perspectivas analisando no que elas convergem e no que elas distam entre si. Desenvolve uma linha do tempo arrolando 0s principais eventos citados nas obras que revisa, inserindo-as em um contexto histórico geral. Foi verificado que não há consenso no que tange à origem da CI, embora tenham sido encontrados mais pontos de complementariedade do que de cisão. Observou-se grande mudança/crescimento nas abordagens ou visões sobre os conceitos da área ao longo de sua história, bem como uma grande ampliação de seus horizontes de estudos. Nota que o excesso de revisionismo desligado das fontes originais pode causar alteração na impressão dos fatos, os fatos em si e mesmo quando eles aconteceram. Conclui que parte consistente da literatura aponta a Documentação e Paul Otlet como elementos que propiciaram a gênese da CI, bem como o desenvolvimento tecnológico resultante da II Guerra mundial e a explosão informacional.

It selectively compiles authors and gathers theirs vision on the history and development of Information Science. It Compares these perspectives by analyzing what they converge on and what they differ from. It develops a timeline listing and reviewing the main events mentioned in the works it reviews, placing them in a general historical context. It was found that there is no consensus regarding the origin of Information Science, although more points of complementarity than divergence were found. There has been great change/growth in the points of view and concepts of the area throughout its history, as well as a great expansion of its study horizons. It notes that excess of revisionism disconnected from original sources can cause a change in the impression of the facts, the facts themselves and even when they happened. It concludes that a consistent portion of literature points the Documentation and Paul Otlet as elements that propitiated the genesis of Information Science, as well as the technological development resulting from World War II and the information boom.
