Fake news : questões éticas e competências dos bibliotecários

Abstract

Este trabalho apresenta uma análise bibliográfica de trabalhos publicados na área de Biblioteconomia, Ciência da Informação, Comunicação, Filosofia, matérias e artigos que trazem relatos pertinentes sobre o efeito do fenômeno das Fake News e quais as repercussões que este fenômeno acarreta no trabalho dos bibliotecários. Também, pretende analisar posicionamentos éticos que podem ser adotados por bibliotecários para enfrentar as situações que por ventura possam surgir devido a circulação crescente de informações falsas. A análise foi realizada identificando quais correntes teóricas da ética melhor se adequam ao trabalho do bibliotecário e sugerindo possíveis abordagens a partir destas. Conclui que o posicionamento dos bibliotecários, profissionais especializados no tratamento e disponibilização da informação, é imprescindível no combate às Fake News, seja agindo individualmente ou com outros profissionais de dentro e/ou fora da área da Ciência da Informação, sendo essencial que se mobilizem para que seja possível combater este fenômeno informacional que causa danos em múltiplos níveis, tais como: aspectos sociais, políticos, econômicos e culturais.

This paper presents an analysis of the effect of the phenomenon of Fake News, which has been growing as part of what many researchers have done in the field of Library Science, Information Science, Communication, Philosophy and relevant articles. Researchers have called it the Post-Truth era, has provoked in the current informational and sociocultural scenario and what repercussions this entails in the work of Librarians. In addition, it is also a question of analyzing possible ethical positions that librarians can adopt to deal with the situations that may arise due to the growing circulation of false information, performing this analysis through a delimitation of which theoretical currents of ethics best suit the Librarian's work and suggesting possible positions from these. Concludes that the positioning of Librarians, professionals specialized in the treatment, classification and availability of information, is essential in the fight against Fake News, whether acting individually or with other professionals from within and/or outside the area of Information Science, it is essential that such professionals are mobilized to combat this informational phenomenon that causes damage at multiple levels: social, political, economic and cultural aspects.
