Geografia de gênero : domicílios chefiados por mulheres na cidade de porto alegre

Abstract

Este presente trabalho aborda as relações de gênero no espaço urbano, desenvolvendo uma análise preliminar da distribuição socioespacial das mulhereschefes de domicílios na cidade de Porto Alegre. Os objetivos desse trabalho são: a) analisar a distribuição espacial dos chefes de domicílio mulheres e homens em Porto Alegre; e b) comparar alguns aspectos socioeconômicos e culturais entre ambos. A metodologia do estudo se baseia no uso de ferramentas estatísticas e de geoprocessamento com base nos dados do Censo Demográfico do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) de 2010. Os resultados evidenciam uma distribuição quantitativa equânime: os domicílios em Porto Alegre são praticamente divididos entre chefias de homens e mulheres. No entanto, foi possível identificar algumas diferenças na distribuição espacial entre domicílios chefiados por homens e mulheres e nas suas condições de renda e alfabetização. Tais evidências reforçam a condição de desigualdade socioespacial entre homens e mulheres.

This paper deals with gender relations in urban space, through a preliminary analysis of the socio-spatial distribution of female heads of households in the city of Porto Alegre. The objectives of this study are: a) to analyze the spatial distribution of male and female heads of households in Porto Alegre; and b) to compare some socioeconomic and cultural aspects between both. The methodology of the study is based on the use of statistical and geoprocessing tools based on data from the 2010 IBGE Demographic Census. The results show an equal quantitative distribution: households in Porto Alegre are practically divided between male and female heads. However, it was possible to identify some differences in the spatial distribution between domiciles headed by men and women and in their income and literacy conditions. Such evidence reinforces the condition of socio-spatial inequality between men and women.
