In the last decades, it has been noticed the ever more active roles of non-state actors in the International Relations dynamics. The political perception of a group - i.e., it’s political culture, is a reference that orients the comprehension of this phenomenon. In the context of constant immigration in the UK, the British citizens are called to a referendum to decide whether the country should stay or leave the European Union (EU), the first political and economical bloc in the world. The vote of the majority, motivated by personal opinions, would guide the way the international relations would be conducted in the following years. Thereby, this work seeks to answer if there’s a relation between the perception of the British on immigration and the context of the UK exiting the EU in 2016, also known as Brexit. The general objective is to evaluate the impact of the British perception on immigration and the final result of the referendum. The hypothesis of this work is that there is a relation, and furthermore, it has arisen from the negative perception on immigration in the last few years and has partially contributed to the results of the referendum. To achieve the objective, the data made available by the 2016’s European Social Survey has been used. Lastly, the conclusion is that the British society has a positive tendency towards the impacts of immigration, although inclined to selecting the immigrants. The role of the perception on immigration has divided the voters pro and anti-Brexit and it’s fundamental to explain the outcome of the referendum. However, this variable alone is not enough to justify the events, since the country lacks the social cohesion and is fragmented by age, income and educational levels.en
