Atuação do preceptor cirurgião-dentista da Atenção Primária no ensino da Odontologia

Abstract

O objetivo da pesquisa foi compreender a atuação do preceptor cirurgião-dentista da Atenção Primária à Saúde no ensino da odontologia. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório de base qualitativa realizado por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas respondidas por 11 estudantes, 3 professores e 6 preceptores vinculados ao estágio curricular supervisionado do curso de graduação em Odontologia da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul nos serviços de Atenção Primária à Saúde do Sistema Único de Saúde de Porto Alegre. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram escolhidos de modo intencional, sendo que os estudantes já deveriam ter concluído o estágio curricular na Atenção Primária à Saúde e os professores e preceptores deveriam estar atuando nesse estágio por um período mínimo de um ano. O método de amostragem utilizado foi o da saturação. A análise do material verbal obtido nas entrevistas foi realizada por meio da análise de conteúdo temática de Bardin. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (número 18139). Emergiram da análise das entrevistas três categorias: Chegada do estudante ao serviço: o acolhimento e a receptividade do preceptor; Preceptor-professor: a importância da competência didático-pedagógica; Integração teórico-prática: o preceptor enquanto facilitador da integração dos conhecimentos teóricos com a realidade do serviço. Experiências positivas com o preceptor, junto a um profissional considerado ‘competente’, resultam em um modelo de trabalhador para os estudantes. Entende-se o preceptor cirurgião-dentista como o profissional que atua na inserção e a integração do estudante de odontologia na equipe e rotina do serviço de saúde, caracterizando-se pela receptividade e acolhimento a esse estudante, pela competência didático-pedagógica, segurança no trabalho e influencia na construção do pensamento crítico-reflexivo. Recomenda-se a realização de outros estudos qualitativos em diferentes Instituições de Ensino Superior no país, que possam trazer maiores contribuições para a compreensão da atuação do preceptor no ensino da odontologia.

The goal of the research was to comprehend the practice of the preceptor dental practitioner of the Primary Care in the dentistry education. An exploratory study of qualitative basis was conducted through semi-structured interviews answered by 11 students, 3 teachers and 6 preceptors bound to the supervised curricular internship of the dentistry graduation of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul at the Primary Care service at the Unified Health System in Porto Alegre. The subjects of the research were chosen intentionally being that students must already have completed the curricular internship at the Primary Care and the teachers and preceptors should be practicing in the internship for at least one year. The sample method employed was of saturation. The verbal material obtained in the interviews was analyzed through Bardin’s method. The Ethics Committee of The Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (number 18139) approved the study. Emerged from the analysis of the interviews three categories: Students’ arrival in the service: the acceptance and receptivity of the preceptor; the preceptor-teacher: the importance of the didactic-pedagogic competence of the preceptor; Integration between theory and practice: the preceptor as a facilitator of integrating theoretical knowledge and the service reality. Positive experiences with the preceptor along with a professional considered ‘competent’ result in a role model to students. It was understood that the preceptor dental practitioner enables the insertion and integration of the student of dentistry in the team and routine of the health care service, characterized by receptiveness and acceptance to this student, by the didactic-pedagogical competence, security at work and influences in the developing of the critical and reflexive thinking. It is recommended the realization of other qualitative studies in different higher education institutions in the country, that can bring more contributions to comprehend the role of the preceptor in dentistry education.
