Processo histórico da ovinocultura e sua influência em Santa Vitória do Palmar-RS

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como finalidade descrever a importância da ovinocultura, e a influência que a cultura exerce sobre as atividades agropecuárias no município de Santa Vitória do Palmar/ RS. Sendo assim por meio de uma pesquisa qualitativa o pesquisador buscou descrever neste trabalho a realidade do município, foi avaliado por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas a forma que os criadores encontram para se manter na ovinocultura e as potencialidades que esta apresenta, resultando como fruto a conclusão deste trabalho. Ainda foram realizadas entrevistas com outros atores locais que estão inseridos nesse cenário como: um criador, um professor/ historiador, um extensionista da EMATER e o presidente da Associação de Criadores de Ovinos do município, com a finalidade de apontar os aspectos que interferem na atividade. Por exemplo, podemos citar: aspetos culturais do município que apresentam grande influência sobre a atividade, onde podemos constatar que a tradição é um dos fatores que ainda exerce algum tipo de influência na tomada de decisão dos produtores. Pois apesar das dificuldades encontradas alguns produtores vêm se mantendo firmes na atividade, não buscando apenas o aspecto socioeconômico, mas sim o sentimento de amor pela atividade que é transmitindo por meio da sucessão familiar o que vem promovendo o desenvolvimento rural. No passado a ovinocultura foi à principal atividade econômica de Santa Vitória do Palmar, tanto pela comercialização da lã como pelo consumo da carne, para verificar os motivos ou acontecimentos históricos que explicam a diminuição da criação de ovinos no município foi realizada esta pesquisa. A mesma tem por finalidade identificar e analisar as mudanças históricas, caracterizando os processos que conduziram a inserção da criação ovina e identificando os fatores que influenciaram a redução e as oscilações no número de animais do rebanho ovino nesta localidade.

The present work aims to describe the importance of sheep farming and the influence that culture has on farming activities in the municipality of Santa Vitória do Palmar / RS. Thus, through a qualitative research the researcher sought to describe in this work the reality of the municipality, it was evaluated through semi-structured interviews the form that the breeders find to remain in the sheep and the potentialities that this presents, resulting as a result of conclusion of this work. Interviews were also carried out with other local actors who are included in this scenario as: a breeder, a professor / historian, an extension of EMATER and the president of the Association of Sheep Breeders of the municipality, with the purpose of pointing out the aspects that interfere in the activity. For example, we can mention: cultural aspects of the municipality that have great influence on the activity, where we can see that tradition is one of the factors that still exerts some type of influence in the decision making of the producers. For despite the difficulties encountered some producers have been holding firm in the activity, not only seeking the socioeconomic aspect, but rather the feeling of love for the activity that is transmitted through family succession which has been promoting rural development. In the past, the sheep industry was the main economic activity of Santa Vitória do Palmar, both for the commercialization of wool and for the consumption of meat, in order to verify historical motives or events that explain the decrease of sheep production in the municipality. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the historical changes, characterizing the processes that led to the insertion of sheep and identifying the factors that influenced the reduction and the oscillations in the number of animals of the sheep herd in this locality.
