Autobiografia literária : o caso de Mário Peixoto

Abstract

Pretendemos neste artigo analisar o romance O Inútil de Cada Um, de Mário Peixoto, como obra exemplar da chamada autobiografi a literária que se iniciou como gênero no fi nal do século XVIII. A autobiografi a literária, inicialmente um relato sólido de acontecimentos e suas implicações para a formação individual, desenvolve-se em direção a uma contingência e auto-referencialidade mais acentuada, substituindo a descrição linear por uma encenação artística da memória entre reencontro e construção.

This article analyses the novel O Inútil de Cada Um by Mário Peixoto as an example for the so called literary autobiography. This genre emerged at the end of the 18th century and developed from a more solid description of facts and their implications on the individual formation into a literary form of a much higher contingence and selfreferentiality, changing from a linear description based on signifi cant episodes to an artistically shaped texture of memorial spaces ad oscillating between reencounter and construction.
