Efeitos do CLG sobre os estudos de texto/discurso : continuidade ou ruptura de fundamentos?

Abstract

Este artigo procura responder à seguinte questão: Como os fundamentos do CLG têm agido sobre uma Linguística centrada no emprego da língua, especificamente, centrada no estudo de textos? A pergunta tem sua origem no questionamento de Benveniste (1995, p. 34) acerca do legado saussuriano à Linguística. O trabalho trata dos efeitos dos principais fundamentos saussurianos nos estudos de texto oriundos das abordagens de Émile Benveniste e de Oswald Ducrot. Apresenta-se o papel das noções de relação e de valor nos fenômenos de sintagmatização e semantização nos estudos de texto de abordagem benvenistiana e nos fenômenos de orientação e encadeamento argumentativos nos estudos de texto de abordagem ducrotiana. As perspectivas de estudo de texto inspiradas nesses autores enfatizam que o sentido advém da relação de palavras sintagmatizadas/encadeadas no discurso. Trata-se do valor que as formas adquirem no discurso ao produzirem sentidos particulares relacionados às escolhas de quem enuncia.

This article aims to answer the following question: How have the theoretical foundations of CGL (Course in General Linguistics) been acting on a branch of Linguistics that focuses on language use, specifically, that focuses on studying texts? The question arises from Benveniste’s (1995, p. 34) questioning about Saussure’s legacy to Linguistics. The paper addresses the effects of the main Saussurean foundations in the studies of texts arising from the approaches by ÉmileBenveniste and by Oswald Ducrot. We present the role of the notions of relation and value in the phenomena named syntagmatization and semantization in the studies of text built upon Benveniste’s approach and in the phenomena of argumentative orientation and argumentative chaining in the studies of text based on Ducrot’s approach. The text study perspectives inspired by these authors emphasize that the meaning derives from the relation of words that are syntagmatized/chained in the discourse. It consists of the value that the forms acquire in the discourse as they produce particular meanings relating to the choices of those who enunciate.
