A ininteligibilidade da fala na clínica fonoaudiológica

Abstract

Introdução: A ininteligibilidade de fala tem se mostrado um indicador avaliativo e terapêutico utilizado na clínica fonoaudiológica, com o objetivo de classificar a fala do paciente de acordo com o seu grau de clareza na emissão. No processo de transcrição, o registro da ininteligibilidade costuma ser empregado em trechos nos quais o transcritor não consegue realizar o recorte da materialidade fônica ali presente e, desta forma, costuma optar pela marcação destes episódios na transcrição sob a forma de S.I. (segmento ininteligível). Desta forma, estudos têm mostrado a restrita aplicabilidade da ininteligibilidade de fala na clínica fonoaudiológica enquanto ferramenta clínica de análise do modo de inserção do sujeito na linguagem. Objetivo: Investigar a relevância dos segmentos de fala ininteligíveis na intervenção fonoaudiológica em clínica de linguagem, buscando averiguar de que forma o fonoaudiólogo lida com as situações em que estes segmentos ocorrem, tendo por base as noções teóricas saussurianas e benvenistianas de signo, pessoa, subjetividade que sustentam a noção aqui empregada de clínica de linguagem. Materiais e Métodos: Estudo descritivo de caráter observacional realizado a partir de coleta de dados de gravações em vídeo e/ou áudio pertencentes ao Banco de Dados ENUNSIL (Enunciação e Sintoma na Linguagem), em sessões clínicas fonoaudiológicas, buscando-se analisar os momentos em que há um não entendimento por parte do terapeuta em relação à fala do paciente. Conclusões: Quanto ao modo com que o fonoaudiólogo lida com os segmentos de difícil entendimento, constatou-se a ocorrência de diversos mecanismos linguísticos que, segundo Nunes (2008), haviam sido encontrados tanto na fala do terapeuta como na fala do paciente. Constatou-se também a pertinência do segmento ininteligível na clínica de linguagem que, mais do que um recurso disponível, possibilitou a compreensão de estratégias empregadas pelo paciente assim como sua potencialidade enquanto sujeito da linguagem.

Introduction: The speech unintelligibility has been shown as an evaluation and therapeutic indicative used in the speech therapy clinic, aiming to classify the patient’s speech according to its emission clarity degree. In the transcription process, the unintelligibility record is commonly used in pieces which the transcriber is not able to perform the identification of the phonic realization present on the speech, and so, the professional chooses to assess this transcription, for instance, as U. S. (unintelligible segment). Studies have reported the restrictive use of speech unintelligibility in the speech therapy clinic as a clinical tool of the individual language input mode analysis. Objective: Investigate the relevance unintelligible speech segments in the speech-therapy intervention in the language clinic, aiming to ascertain the way the therapist deals with the situations in which these segments occur, based on Saussure’s and Benvenist’s theoretical ideas of sign, subject and subjectivity, which are supporting the idea here applied to the language clinic. Materials and Methods: Observation type descriptive study performed from the data collection of video and/or audio records which belong to the ENUNSIL (Enunciation and Symptoms in Language) database, in speech therapy clinical sessions, aiming to analyze the moments in which there is a non-understanding from the therapist side in relation to the patient’s speech. Conclusion: Regarding the way the speech therapist deals with the segments which are difficult to understand, it was found that there were many linguistic devices that, according to Nunes (2008), were present not only on the therapist’s speech, but also on the patient’s. It was also found the importance of the unintelligible segment in the language clinic, more than an available resource, which made possible the comprehension of the strategies used by the patient and his or her potentiality as a language subject.
