The navigation system of electronic journals is responsible for informing users about the content of websites and guide them properly to the pages of interest. This research analyzes the navigation in three journals internationally renowned: Nature, Science e PLOS Biology. Therefore, initially presents a literature review on the navigation components, subdivided into structural navigation (main and local); associative (contextual, quick links, footers); utilitarian (toolbox and logos with links); and advanced (personalized, customized, by viewing and social). Next, it is shown the results of the analysis. The method chosen was the inspection by checklist, performed by test sentences based on works by reference authors in the area Rosenfeld, Morville e Arango (2015), Kalbach (2009) e Garrett (2011). The systematic and thorough verification allowed to list the resources applied to navigation in scientific journals of high visibility. On the other hand, it was possible to identify points where some changes would bring benefits to journals user experience. Furthermore, by comparing among the three journals, became clear the best solutions used in each of the navigation mechanism. Considering the importance of the journals for scientific communication, it is relevant to study the constant updating of their systems. The analysis of the navigation contributes to the improvement of such information carriers and thus promotes visibility of the papers. ...
