Os movimentos de libertação nacional em Angola : trajetória política, guerra civil e impactos sobre a construção do estado (1975-2002)

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o processo de construção do Estado Angolano à luz da trajetória política do Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA) durante a Guerra Civil (1975-2002). Tendo em vista que o MPLA é o partido no poder desde a independência do país, em 1975, verifica-se importante associação entre o mesmo e o Estado Angolano em si. Através de uma análise histórica das relações internacionais, procurou-se demonstrar isso ao longo de três capítulos, além da Introdução e da Conclusão. No capítulo dois é feita uma ilustração histórica da política colonial portuguesa e das origens dos Movimentos de Libertação Nacional. No capítulo três, por sua vez, buscou-se compreender de que forma as disputas políticas entre esses Movimentos impactaram o processo de construção do Estado Angolano, e como o fim da Guerra Civil consagrou a hegemonia política do MPLA no país. No capítulo quatro, por fim, é feito um balanço da evolução política do MPLA no poder ao longo da Guerra Civil. A partir da investigação do objeto de pesquisa, concluiu-se que ao longo desse processo o MPLA passou por amplas transformações, abandonando o projeto político nacionalista inicial e adotando uma roupagem liberal, mas com manutenção de uma estrutura política altamente centralizada no Presidente.

This study aims to analyze Angola’s State-building process in light of the political trajectory of the Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA) throughout the Civil War (1975-2002). Bearing in mind that the MPLA is the ruling party since Angola’s independence, in 1975, it is noted that there is a significant association between this party and the Angolan State itself. By means of a historical analysis of international relations, it aimed to demonstrate that across three chapters, besides the Introduction and Conclusion. In chapter two it is made a historical illustration of the Portuguese colonial policy and the origins of the National Liberation Movements. In chapter three, in turn, it aimed to understand how political disputes between these Movements affected the Angolan State-building process, and in which way the end of the Civil War have consolidated the political hegemony of the MPLA in this country. Finally, in chapter four it is made an assessment of the political evolution of the MPLA in power throughout the Civil War. With the investigation of the research object, it is concluded that over this period the MPLA has undergone through extensive changes, abandoning the initial nationalist political project and adopting a liberal one, but maintaining a highly centralized political structure centered in the President.
