Análise em tempo aparente da vocalização variável da lateral pós-vocálica em Flores da Cunha (RS)

Abstract

O trabalho busca verificar, com análise de regra variável (LABOV 1972), (a) se há vocalização da lateral pós-vocálica (folga~fo[w]ga, hospital~hospita[w]) no português brasileiro falado em Flores da Cunha (RS), (b) qual a proporção de aplicação do processo e (c) os fatores linguísticos e sociais que o condicionam. Estudo anterior (TASCA 1999) na mesma comunidade com dados de entrevistas do VARSUL do início dos anos 1990 revelou não existir vocalização da lateral pós-vocálica nessa comunidade. O presente trabalho investiga novamente o processo em Flores da Cunha, agora com dados de entrevistas do BDSer, realizadas entre 2008 e 2009. A análise revela que há 72% de vocalização na comunidade, condicionada pelos contextos fonológicos precedente e seguinte, tonicidade da sílaba e posição da lateral da palavra, pelo sexo/gênero dos falantes, sua faixa etária e local de residência.

The paper aims at verifying, with variable rule analysis (LABOV 1972), (a) whether there is vocalization of the alveolar lateral in coda position (folga~fo[w]ga, ‘free time’, hospital~hospita[w], ‘hospital’) in Brazilian Portuguese in the speech community of Flores da Cunha (RS), (b) the total proportion of rule application and (c) the linguistic and social conditioning factors of the process. A previous study (TASCA 1999) in the same community with data from VARSUL from the beginning of the years 1990 showed that there was no vocalization of the alveolar lateral in Flores da Cunha. The present study investigates the process in the same community, but with data from BDSer, collected from 2008 to 2009. The analysis shows that the total proportion of vocalization in Flores da Cunha is 72%. It is conditioned by precedent and following phonologicalcontext, tonicity and position of the lateral in the word, sex/gender of the speaker, age and place of residence.
